The Power of Color

Spoonflower & Pantone®

Who: Spoonflower

What: Production, Digital Tech, and Video Services

Why: Cowboy Collective stepped in to round out the creative team, producing a photoshoot that captured the power of Pantone®’s Color of the Year through the lens of Spoonflower’s unique products.

At Cowboy Collective, we are storytellers. Color is a visual storytelling element that has the power to shift the mood, set the tone, and shape the very stories we tell. From bright pops and patterns to soothing neutral tones, Spoonflower’s curated collections of artist-designed products help their customers tell their own color stories at home, and our team always jumps at the opportunity to produce the narrative of color inspiration in their photoshoots.

Enter: Pantone®’s 2025 Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse.

This rich, mellow brown is both grounding and indulgent, exuding warmth and sophistication. Through the lens of Spoonflower’s exclusive collection of wallpaper, fabric, and home decor inspired by Mocha Mousse, the color comes to life as a cozy and comforting interior design element.

Mocha Mousse feels simultaneously timeless and very of-the-moment, a creative contradiction that both excites and challenges us as storytellers.

Designed by artists Annette Brown, Danika Herrick, Gargi Panwar, and Holli Zollinger, this collection invites Spoonflower customers to use Mocha Mousse as a visual storytelling element in their own homes, serving as decor inspiration for 2025 and beyond.

Captured by Spoonflower photographer Alex Craig, with production services from Cowboy Collective, including digital tech services by Scooter Ollis and video services by John Laww, we ensured every detail of the shoot was executed flawlessly to showcase the power of Mocha Mousse.

For this collaboration, Cowboy Collective also journeyed even deeper into the story of how color comes to life through Spoonflower’s products as we also traveled to the Spoonflower Factory in South Carolina to capture the printing of exclusive fabric for Pantone. Cowboy Molly Brock filmed this process, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Mocha Mousse in production.

This collaboration has the cowboys pondering how color isn’t just a design element - it’s a driving force behind how we produce and capture imagery.

Shades like Mocha Mousse bring warmth and depth, transforming the mood of a scene. Beyond product photoshoots, we see firsthand how color shapes narratives and brands in every creative project from details on set to digital design services to aesthetic retouching choices. When it comes to video and photography, color grading isn’t just technical, it’s storytelling.

Are you inspired by the color story of the Spoonflower Pantone® Color of the Year collection and ready to tell a story of your own? Let’s chat.
